I believe technology (if implemented right) can help transform student learning. Our own kids' education combined with our background in big data gave us the inspiration to start ScootPad.
Investing our personal savings, we went "all-in" to launch ScootPad in Nov, 2011.

Bharat KumarCo-Founder & CEO
Bharat spent the first half of his career helping multi-national companies leverage technology to streamline their business. Having been bitten by the entrepreneurial bug at the age of 10, while helping his dad run a hospital in India, Bharat started his first company in 2007. In 2011, inspired by his children and their school experience, Bharat started ScootPad with his wife Maya. He now focuses on product strategy and growth at ScootPad.
Before starting ScootPad, Bharat was the Co-Founder of Aquarius Consulting (RevStream) and VP/Director of IT at several companies. He earned his Master's in Computer Science at Wayne State University. Bharat spends his free time running, hiking, and playing volleyball.
Maya GaddeCo-Founder & CTO
Maya helped launch several startups over the span of her career. So when she saw how much her daughter hated the mindlessness of practice worksheets, she knew there had to be a better way. The idea of building ScootPad only grew with the overwhelming encouragement she received, leading to its launch in 2011. This start was quickly followed by teacher-led word-of-mouth growth. Maya is now focused on making ScootPad available at scale to millions of teachers, students and parents.
Before starting ScootPad, Maya was the CTO of 33across, VP of Engineering at Traffic Marketplace and Software Architect at Stanford University. She earned her Master's in Computer Science at Ohio University. In her free time, Maya likes to hike, swim and read.
While teaching high school history, Ian discovered a love for creating engaging and challenging curriculum, as well as the need for students and teachers to have access to consistent practice and instruction support. He now works to develop this content for educators and parents.
Before working at ScootPad, Ian also developed a summer curriculum for a nonprofit in Oakland serving at-risk youth and helped to facilitate a trial of new science curriculum at the middle school level. He earned his Master's in Education at Stanford University. In his free time, Ian likes to play guitar and write.
Anthony BolivarCustomer Success
Having taught high school for three years, Anthony experienced firsthand the power and the challenge of using technology in the classroom. He's thrilled to be at ScootPad where he works with districts and schools to maximize the impact of their learning platform.
Anthony studied Business Marketing at Texas Wesleyan University. Outside of ScootPad Anthony enjoys fitness, sports, and spending time with his family and friends.
Jennifer SmithSales & Customer Success
Jennifer attended Texas A&M University where she earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, and is now certified to teach K-8. After teaching early childhood education, she found a passion in educational technology and comes to ScootPad with four years of experience in the EdTech world. She's held roles in business development, as well as customer success and support, and finds joy in giving teachers the tools they need to fully support students in the classroom while simultaneously keeping students engaged.
In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys family time, going on walks, and fishing.
Denita RichardsonCustomer Success
When Denita purchased an ed tech tool for her 1st and 2nd grade classroom, she didn't realize how much that single act would change her life. After seeing the results for her students, she knew that she needed to continue her career in the ed tech industry. She would then be able to assist more teachers close gaps and keep their students engaged.
Fast forward 10 years later and she has held roles in business development, Customer implementation and retention, and now Customer success and support. She earned her Bachelor's in Psychology from Rutgers University. In her spare time, you can find her spending time with family and competing in FitBit and other health-related challenges.
Sankeerthana is excited about the potential technology has to transform education, and as a full stack engineer, she works to make those improvements a reality.
Before working at ScootPad, Sankeerthana worked as an engineer developing applications for a few different industries. She earned her Master's in Computer Applications from India. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Tiffany TranUX Designer
After having worked in education from different angles, Tiffany realized the need to make edtech products more user-friendly so that any educator can maximize the power of technology in their classrooms. She is now designing for ScootPad, helping to make to make personalized learning more accessible and engaging for its users.
Previously, she was a research assistant for UCLA's Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, a multimedia specialist at a low-income high school, and a volunteer elementary art teacher. She earned her Bachelor's in Sociology at UCLA. When she's not pushing pixels, she's doodling in her sketchbook, reading, or exploring new sceneries.
