"ScootPad gave them lots of practice! We also had a few students mention after our Winter District assessments, they thought ScootPad was the reason why they grew (because of the practice of test taking strategies). As a grade level, we love when the students see the benefit to something before we do!" - Bridget Fink

Problem Statement

One of our biggest challenges is being able to give our students multiple ways to practice skills in preparing for state and district assessments. ScootPad allows us the opportunity to differentiate not only for the academic level but various skills. As a grade level, we love that we can level students (remediate and enrich) along with matching the practices to what we are teaching in the classroom.

ScootPad Solution

We use ScootPad at multiple times during the day.  During literacy centers all students spend 20 minutes practicing the skills we have taught recently.  We also use ScootPad during our "30 minute tier time" which is our no new instruction part of the day.  During this time, some students are participating in ScootPad to help with test anxiety, test strategies, etc.  Some students are also getting small group enrichment maybe two or three grade levels above our regular classroom discussion.  In this small group setting, the adult is able to discuss and work through the problems with the students.  At the end of each math chapter, we typically give the students one day on ScootPad as a review of all the skills in that unit of study.

Impact and Results

We are in the process of doing our state assessments.  A few students have said that it was easier this year, because ScootPad gave them lots of practice!  We also had a few students mention after our Winter District assessments, they thought ScootPad was the reason why they grew (because of the practice of test taking strategies). As a grade level, we love when the students see the benefit to something before we do!
